Bayern Munich opened their first official match of the 2018-19 competitive season with quite the bang. The reigning German champions led a 5-0 rout away to Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Super Cup. Lets break down how each player did individually.

Bayern Munich couldn’t have asked for a smoother opening to the next competitive season. The German giants recollected in the German Super Cup for a thrashing win against the former club of now Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac.

The first 15 or so minutes of the match looked admittedly well organized for Eintracht Frankfurt, but after the first goal, the home side lost control of the match.

The visitors had, as expected, held the lion’s share of possession but looked rather unproductive offensively up until the 20 minute mark. After that point, Bayern Munich comfortably found their footing in the match to unlock the Eintracht Frankfurt defense.

Bayern Munich held their ground firmly against the home side and avoided getting caught out against much of any opposition counter attacks. The German giants looked at ease moving the ball around from end to end of the pitch. Frankfurt could do little to ward off Bayern Munich even having a man advantage after David Alaba went off injured in the latter stage of the game.

All in all, it was smooth sailing for the defending Bundesliga champions. With that, we’ll take a look at how the players performed.

Manuel Neuer – 7/10

Manuel Neuer probably could not have asked for a more calm competitive debut for Bayern Munich since 2017. The undisputed starter — when fit, that is — for Bayern needed only to make one real save throughout the entirety of the match.

Aside from that, there was nothing special of note from Neuer. However, that was due to lack of action rather than his personal performance.
