Paris Saint-Germain are known for splashing the cash, and they’re hoping to land Christian Eriksen from Tottenham.

Tottenham had a completely underwhelming transfer window, in which they were the only top six side to sign nobody. While this is frustrating, they must avoid exacerbating things by selling one of their star players. Christian Eriksen is certainly one of those, and he’s subject to huge interest in the remaining weeks of the European transfer window.

Real Madrid were interested earlier in the week, but it appears Paris Saint-Germain are beginning to make moves. According to Express, the French club is preparing to launch a bid in the region of £100m for the Dane.

From one project to the next.

More from Ligue 1

Both PSG and Tottenham Hotspur pride themselves on taking steps forward each season, and they both have goals in sight. PSG are desperate to make the most of their huge spending by lifting the Champions League, whereas Tottenham would just take anything at this point.

Both teams have managers who are good with dealing with individuals. Recently appointed Thomas Tuchel showed his man-management qualities during his time with Dortmund, whereas Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Spurs speaks for itself.

I don’t think there’s any denying that PSG is a much more exciting club to be at than Tottenham. Playing with the flash duo of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, while providing balls to the strategical movement of Edinson Cavani is exciting for any play-maker.

Who needs him more?

I don’t think there’s any denying this either, Spurs. Their transfer window is over, and they can no longer bring in reinforcements to replace Eriksen. That said, don’t be surprised to see Daniel Levy and company play hard ball when it comes to accepting the deal.

Coming off the back of an impressive World Cup campaign, Eriksen is only going to be full of confidence heading into the season. And with Spurs relying on last season’s men all over again, they’re going to need the confidence boosts.

His performance against Newcastle on matchday 1 wasn’t the most impressive, but things are only going to improve from here. He’s a key figurehead to his Spurs side, and as a neutral, I would rank him at third place in terms of importance.

Who are the top two, I hear you ask. Well, in the words of Jose Mourinho – I prefer not to speak. If I speak I am in big trouble.
