Manchester City fans will be worried by Kevin De Bruyne’s injury, but they shouldn’t be overly concerned.

News broke earlier that the Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne will be sidelined for a few months, due to his knee injury in training. While this is devastating news, obviously, City fans needn’t worry about their title hopes.

Manchester City were quick to report the news, with many outlets confirming the injury will rule him out of action for around 2 months. Here’s why Pep Guardiola needn’t lose too much sleep…

Manchester City have an easy run.

Many expected a trip to the Emirates to be hard, but it was quite the opposite. City merged victorious courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 scoreline. Their run after that only gets MUCH easier. Here’s a look at their upcoming fixtures:

  • Huddersfield Town (H) – 19 Aug
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) – 25 Aug
  • Newcastle United (H) – 01 Sep
  • Fulham (H) – 15 Sep
  • Cardiff City (A) – 22 Sep
  • Brighton and Hove Albion (H) – 29 Sep

More from Manchester City

The Citizens then come up against Liverpool, where they will really miss the Belgian. But a lot can happen until then, and from the above mentioned fixtures they could easily secure all 18 points.

This would set them on a confidence boost heading to Anfield, which could see Pep Guardiola’s men make amends for their only wrongdoings last season. It wouldn’t just be a delight for City fans, but also for the neutral.

City have more to offer than De Bruyne.

City aren’t a one man rock band, in fact they are far from it. The Citizens have tremendous squad depth, and it’s important to remember that De Bruyne didn’t even start the game against Arsenal at the weekend.

With the arrival of Riyad Mahrez, the creative element to City’s play is covered – Of course, he will partner David Silva in this department.

This will give the chance for another City midfielder to make the cut. Players like Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan are on the cusp of being fan favorites, but this could give them the push they need to excel under Guardiola.

I’m not saying it will have a positive impact, losing your star player never does. But what I’m saying is that the injury couldn’t have come at a better time, and City have all the tools to work around it. It will be hard, but they can make it through.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Kevin!
