4. Ciro Immobile

The Lazio offense was just about unstoppable in Serie A last year. They scored 89 goals in 38 matches last season and the leader of their attack, Ciro Immobile, scored 29 in 33 matches. Those 29 goals were enough for Immobile to share the Capocanonniere title with Mauro Icardi last season.

However, it seems highly unlikely we see a repeat either of these performances this season. Lazio has already lost Felipe Anderson this summer, a loss that will surely hinder their offense next year. If Sergej Milinkovic-Savic follows before the close of the summer window or during the winter it would be an even bigger hit for Lazio.

The 2-time Capocannoniere has shown plenty of times that he has the skill to win the title again. There is plenty of reason to believe that he is capable of becoming the 9th man on the list of 3-time winners. He has the talent and experience and appeared to really hit his stride last season. If Immobile and Lazio can maintain last season’s form then Immobile could find himself atop the scorers list yet again. On the other hand, Ciro Immobile seems to be the perfect candidate to see some regression next season.

Last year was his best season in Serie A by 6 goals. His midfield  already lost one key player and could lose another when a top team comes looking for reinforcements for a Champions League run. Lazio could also focus more on trying to win the Europa League this year because it might be a clearer path back to the Champions League than qualifying through Serie A. Overall, I still believe Immobile will score somewhere between 22-24 goals, but not enough to retain his Capocannoniere title.
