3. Gonzalo Higuain

AC Milan made out like bandits when they got Gonzalo Higuain on a loan for this season. He looks to be in better shape than his debut season. He’s a proven scorer in Serie A, having tied the single-season record for goals during his time at Napoli. He’ll likely be extra motivated this season after Juventus was willing to send him to a rival club on a loan.

Milan’s strikers did an abysmal job in the final third last season. Nikola Kalinic scored 6 goals in 31 appearances. Andre Silva scored 2 goals in 24 appearances. Their most effective striker was a 20-year-old who had made 1 Serie A appearance before last season. They will have no such issue with Higuain leading the attack.

Higuain is one of the best finishers in the world when representing his clubs (his time with Argentina is a different story). He will have plenty of talent around him to create chances and he will make those chances count. He has also played in at least 32 games in every season of his Serie A career. Higuain has all of the talent and experience necessary to regain the Capocannoniere title he once held in Napoli.

With Milan likely in a dog fight for a Champions League spot next season we will see a lot of Higuain in the league next season. Higuain serving as the focal point of Milan’s attack should equal his best season since his record tying effort that won him the title of Capocannoniere in 2015-16.
