2. Cristiano Ronaldo

The argument for Ronaldo is pretty clear. He has already reached the 30 goal mark in two different leagues. He has scored 30 in 6 of the last 8 seasons, including 3 40-goal seasons. He is simply one of the greatest goal scorers we have ever seen. It wouldn’t be remotely surprising if he took Serie A by storm and scored 30 goals this season.

At Juventus he will still be a part of one of the world’s most talented teams. If Massimiliano Allegri insists on keeping the 4-2-3-1 formation then Ronaldo would thrive at the front of it in Serie A. Service from Douglas Costa, Alex Sandro, Joao Cancelo, Miralem Pjanic, and Paulo Dybala will give Ronaldo plenty of opportunities to fill the stat sheet. Some people will view Ronaldo’s supporting cast as a step down from Real’s incredible squad, but this team will certainly be able to keep Ronaldo scoring at his incredible pace.

The only worries for his goal tally in the league will be Juve’s pursuit of a Champions League trophy and a potential adjustment period. Any time a player joins a new team and a new league they are bound to need a little bit of time to figure things out. Also, if Juve decides to focus on the Champions League late in the season then we could see Ronaldo rested for some league games, which would hurt his final tally.

I think we will see yet another impressive season from Ronaldo, but he will fall just short of the league’s star of the future for the title of Capocannoniere.
