Zinedine Zidane willing to take over at Manchester United next summer
By Kian Long
The Frenchman left Real Madrid before the World Cup, but could he mark his return to management with Manchester United?
Manchester United officials are probably growing tired of Jose Mourinho’s negativity, particularly throughout pre-season. Well, I know the fans certainly are. This has never been what the club is about, and if the Portuguese manager isn’t tying with the beliefs of the club, then don’t be surprised to see him gone pretty soon.
United are hoping to improve on their second place finish last time out. If matchday 1 is anything to go by, then they have all the tools to complete this task. However, the United board have a backup option should Mourinho fail to make progress – and he comes in the name of Zinedine Zidane. According to L’Equipe, the Frenchman is willing to manage United.
From one huge club to the next.

Say what you want about Zidane, but he’s definitely had an illustrious managerial career so far. Having won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid, many were surprised to see him leave.
Manchester United should definitely feel grateful that he’s willing to apply his services though. He is able to carry any team to the top, and it doesn’t take him long to suss a game plan. He will have a lot to deal with at United should he join, a mixture of egos and low-confident players. But who knows? A lot can change by the end of the season.
That said, we shouldn’t rule out Jose Mourinho’s ability to come up with a master plan. He has all the tools necessary to save his job, and you best believe he’ll give his upmost to achieving this. He’s not going to go out without a fight, and fans are still hopeful for a good season under him.
While they might not win the league just yet, or at least that’s how I feel, Mourinho can still have a positive season. If the likes of Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial all improve confidence-wise, then that’s the first positive.
The second would be to win silverware of any sort – something I would never rule Mourinho out from doing. While the Champions League and the Premier League are attainable, they’re long-shots. The FA Cup and the Carabao Cup are there for the taking.
Do you think Jose Mourinho will be replaced next summer, and if so, will it be Zinedine Zidane?
