Bayern Munich will join the fray to sign Tottenham defender
By Kian Long
Toby Alderweireld could be on his way out of Spurs, with Bayern Munich the latest club to join the race.
Bayern Munich are looking to strengthen in the defensive department, in order to keep their dominance over the rest of the German league. It is thought they will lose out on Jerome Boateng, who is rumored to join PSG, so they need to look into replacements.
Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld is the next best thing on the current market, so it’s no surprise to see Bayern linked with the Belgian. According to The Mirror, the German club are interested in joining the race to sign him.
A worthy replacement.

Although his time at Tottenham recently has been heading in a downwards trajectory, Alderweireld is still an excellent player. His work both on and off the ball is a pleasure to watch, even (sometimes) as an Arsenal fan.
He is a commanding defender, and he isn’t afraid to put his body on the line whenever necessary, albeit he doesn’t need to resort to this often. He’s actually a very tidy defender, rarely giving away fouls to the opposition.
His footwork is also a real trait of his, both to beat the opposing attacker and to find his own teammates with short or long passes. If Bayern Munich can pull the deal off, then they can forget Boateng quicker than they can say auf wiedersehen.
Daniel Levy could have been more approachable earlier on.
If this would have happened earlier on in the window, Daniel Levy could have actually been easy to work around. Bayern Munich could have included Boateng as part of a swap deal, with both teams being happy.
However, according to The Daily Star, Boateng looks to have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain. That partnered with the fact England’s transfer window has closed is a real blow for all parties.
I can only assume that Levy will make life difficult for Bayern Munich officials. Actually, let’s face it, I can guarantee it. Levy has never been an easy man to negotiate deals with, it’s part of the reason why Spurs haven’t been active in the transfer window in recent seasons.
Bayern Munich won’t have it easy, but with Alderweireld being linked with a move away for quite some time now, they have every chance in the world. It’s just a case of playing their cards right, in my opinion.
Do you think Toby Alderweireld will leave Tottenham this summer, and if so, where?
