Juventus has dominated Serie A for the last 7 years, but the other top teams have turned up the heat this summer.

Juve, Napoli, Roma, Milan, Inter, and Fiorentina all made moves this summer to fight for Serie A’s Champions League places. While Juve made the most notable move of the summer, the rest of the league has put the pressure on and one team may even be able to dethrone them this year.

The Best of the Rest:

Lazio

Lazio barely missed out on a spot in the Champions League for this season, but their prospects look grim this year. Losing Stefan de Vrij will be a big blow to their defense. Felipe Anderson leaving will prevent them from repeating last year’s incredible offensive performance. If Sergej Milinkovic-Savic joins the list of defectors then Lazio might not even finish in the top 7 this season.

Fiorentina

After barely missing out on the Europa league last season (and then getting in, but ultimately ending up out) Fiorentina made quite a few moves to bolster their roster. Marko Pjaca, Kevin Mirallas, Gerson, Edimilson Fernandes, German Pezzella, and Carlos Sanchez will all help to push Fiorentina back to a spot in Europe. Alban Lafont could already establish himself as a top keeper in Serie A this season. If there’s a dark horse candidate for a top 4 finish this year, it’s Fiorentina.

AC Milan

Milan will be looking to bounce back from last year’s embarrassment. Milan spent way more money than they ever should have been allowed last year (regardless of the final ruling) and still never looked threatening on their way to a 6th place finish last year. Juventus gave them a gift by loaning them Gonzalo Higuain, giving them the finisher they were missing last year. If any of last year’s top 4 falter, Milan will be ready to swoop in and take their place.
