Arsenal failed to get a win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the last time they did was seven years ago…
Arsenal came up against Chelsea in the second game of this year’s Premier League campaign. It was never going to get easier for the Gunners following their disappointing loss to Manchester City on opening day.
Today was a lot more open, with both teams having chances to find the back of the net. It seemed like it would be another whitewash when Chelsea found themselves 2-0 up in the first half, but it couldn’t have been further from the case.
The game was opened by Pedro early on, before Alvaro Morata doubled the lead for the home side. However, two quick goals by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi drew the game level for Arsenal before the first half.
It took a long while for there to be a breakthrough after this, but poor passing by Arsenal led to Marcos Alonso finding the back of the net.
Anyway, enough of the review, let’s get into some juicy analysis. How did the Arsenal players fare in this disappointing late loss?
GK: Petr Cech – 5.5/10
Petr Cech was one of Arsenal’s best players, I have to say. He denied a few notable shots, particularly late on. None of the goals were his fault, so it would be unfair to pin them on him. Still, I think Bernd Leno should start making some appearances.
