RB: Hector Bellerin – 5.5/10
Again, Bellerin had a mixed game. There were a few times which left him caught out in possession, but he made it up for it on the odd occasion with fine attacking play. He was positive, perhaps too positive at times. Whenever he got in Chelsea’s half, something promising happened, but he needs to focus on getting back after attacking.
CB: Sokratis Papastathopoulos – 5/10
Sokratis was here and there. He could have done better on a number of Chelsea chances, because let’s face it, nobody should be beaten by N’Golo Kante in the air. However, on a positive note, there were times where he would drive Arsenal forward, proving himself wrong when he said he only focuses on defending.
CB: Shkodran Mustafi – 5/10
His ball through to Aubameyang in the first half was amazing, a trait he often shows. However, yet again he was disappointing at the back. He needed to stick tight to the likes of Alvaro Morata, but he didn’t do that. Overall, it was a defensive disaster from Arsenal, and Mustafi was at the heart of it.
LB: Nacho Monreal – 5.5/10
The Spaniard was thrown in the deep end, but he didn’t play as badly as that would suggest. His runs in behind the Chelsea flanks were positive, often being involved in the low-crossing play Arsenal chose to implement.
It will take him a while to replicate the immense form he shown last season, but there were many signs of promise displayed by him today.
