Goalkeeper- Wojciech Szczesny

After splitting time with Mattia Perin throughout the summer friendlies, Wojciech Szczesny has been named the starter on opening day for Juventus. Szczesny has played well for Juventus last season in his 17 appearances. He even managed to keep 11 clean sheets, the same number as Gianluigi Buffon kept last season. However, I don’t expect this to be his job for long.

Mattia Perin was brought in this summer to be Buffon’s replacement. Unfortunately for Szczesny that means he will at some point be relinquishing his starting role. For Juventus, it would be wise to get Perin in the starting lineup as soon as possible. Szczesny is holding the job right now, but I don’t expect that to last much longer.

Striker- Cristiano Ronaldo

This is the one everybody is here. He’s the reason people will be watching the Serie A season opener tomorrow. He’s the reason Serie A will be broadcast on ESPN for the next 3 years. Cristiano Ronaldo is the star of the show and Massimiliano Allegri already announced the fans will be getting what they want to see. Cristiano Ronaldo will indeed be starting for Juventus tomorrow.

Ronaldo’s debut will be one of the most hyped debuts Serie A has ever seen. He’ll be itching to get himself started with a debut goal against Chievo. Ronaldo should be expected to start regularly as long as he is healthy and rested.

He might not be starting at striker for all of those games, but Juventus hasn’t yet been given a reason to change formations for this season. Expect to see Ronaldo in this role quite a bit early in the Serie A season, but he likely won’t be starting league games so frequently once we hit the Champions League knockout stages. As one of football’s two best players Juventus fans will anxiously await Ronaldo’s first goal from the opening kickoff.
