Real Madrid are desperate to sign one more big name before the window comes to a close.

The European transfer window ends in just under two weeks. Following Real Madrid’s disappointing loss to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup, they will be looking to strengthen heavily before the season gets truly underway.

They face Getafe on Sunday, and should be able to cope with their current squad. But if they are to keep up with the likes of Atletico and Barcelona, they need to strengthen. According to Sport, Florentino Perez is willing to spend the big bucks on Neymar. The deal is set to be around £270m, but they will only go through with it should Paris Saint-Germain be forced to sell.

The ideal Ronaldo replacement.

More from Real Madrid

It’s never easy to replace a legend, particularly a potential G.O.A.T in Cristiano Ronaldo. But it’s something that Real Madrid have been forced to do, given the Portugal international’s departure to join Juventus.

Names have been flying around – The likes of Neymar and Eden Hazard topping the lot. It doesn’t look likely that Chelsea will sell, especially considering they won’t be able to sign a replacement. England closed their transfer window earlier this year, meaning clubs will be more reluctant to lose players they can’t replace. But PSG may have no choice but to sell, given their potential infringement of UEFA sponsorship deals.

Neymar will come with a burning desire to achieve, much like Ronaldo always shown. His time at PSG was by no means a failure, but it was certainly a step down on what he achieved at FC Barcelona. He could return to La Liga full of life, looking to prove to the Spanish fans what they were missing.

A good move for Neymar.

One of Neymar’s goals is to win the Ballon D’or. While he definitely has the ability to be considered, many professionals look at Ligue 1 as too easy. He needs a club with European calibre in order to show he is worth selecting. He had this at FC Barcelona, which is why many were confused to see him leave so suddenly.

He won’t be swayed by the interest, as it’s nothing he hasn’t seen before. But there may just be a niggling thought at the back of his mind of ‘what if?’

When Real Madrid come calling, more often than not, you answer. It will be interesting to see how this saga and the deal’s factors pan out.

Do you think Paris Saint-Germain will be forced to sell Neymar to Real Madrid?
