CM: Miralem Pjanic 7/10

Miralem Pjanic was as dangerous as ever on his dead ball deliveries today. The free kick he delivered that Chiellini headed down to Khedira was perfect. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to keep up the creativity for the rest of the match. Juventus will rely on Pjanic to create out of the midfield if they hope to maintain their level of success. Pjanic was overall a positive today, but should have had more of an impact.

CM: Sami Khedira 8/10

Sami Khedira started off the season as well as one could hope for. He lined up Chiellini’s knock down perfectly and slotted it into the net 3 minutes into the Serie A season. Unfortunately, his forward runs left some openings that Chievo was able to take advantage of. That’s a tactical error though and not an issue with his performance. Khedira was solid in the midfield, helping Juve control the pace of the game, but if Juve sticks with him and Pjanic in the midfield, he may need to scale back his attacking. His finish early in the game is plenty to secure a B though.

AM: Paulo Dybala 6/10

Dybala needs to be better. Juventus is playing a formation that might not be the best for them because they need an attacking midfielder spot for Dybala. However, he did nothing today to show the benefit to playing the 4-2-3-1. He created very little of note and didn’t take any chances of his own. He wasn’t bad, but he also wasn’t good. When you build a formation around a specific player he needs to be better than he was today.
