Arsenal have suffered a shaky start to their Premier League season, which was to be expected from Manchester City and Chelsea.
It’s not the start Unai Emery would have hoped for, but the fixture list wasn’t kind to Arsenal. While he would have liked to get some points on the board, he can take real pleasure in knowing that the two hard games are out of the way now.
Arsenal find themselves 17th in the table after just two games, not a good showing. One point from the opening two games would have been positive, a feat which they so nearly reached had it not been for Marcos Alonso. But the Gunners can forget those matches now, as their next batch of fixtures look tasty.
A look at Arsenal’s next 10 league fixtures.

All of those fixtures are winnable games, even the Liverpool match. Granted, Liverpool are notorious for slaying the top six sides, but Arsenal have what it takes to beat them at home. Their meeting at the Emirates last season was quite the thriller, with Arsenal scoring three quick-fire goals to take the lead before ultimately drawing the game 3-3.
I would say that at least eight wins from 10, although they should be aiming for more, will set Arsenal on the right path to achieve a high finish this season. While they won’t be tipped favourites to win the league, they should be aiming to achieve a fourth place finish – but I’m sure many Arsenal fans will take an upgrade on last season in fifth.
The home crowd needs to be in full voice.
The supporters will have definitely taken a huge knock from the opening two games, but it’s never been more important to get behind their team. Particularly against Liverpool, the crowd should aim to act as the 12th man if they are to make progress.
It will take some impressive displays from the team in order to fire up the crowd, particularly the attack. That said, Arsenal fans weren’t expecting big things from this season, just to show some character and grit as Emery looks to build for the future.
