Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a lethal goal scorer, however he is yet to score for Arsenal this season. Will he do so against West Ham?

The Gabonese international is Arsenal’s most exciting player at the moment. Towards the tail-end of last season, the striker racked up a healthy serving of goals. Albeit most of those were against teams in the lower half, he is one which gives the Arsenal faithful hope.

However, he is yet to score this season. Two tough fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea brought out the worst in his side, and from a personal standpoint, he will be harsh on himself. He actually took to Twitter to show his disappointment in his misses…

Is he being too harsh on himself?

More from Arsenal FC

Players can often be their own harshest critic, Aubameyang is one of them. Although it’s good for the fans to see his drive, the Gabonese striker mustn’t be too harsh on himself. The Arsenal fans aren’t going to fall out of love with him over a few missed chances.

It’s only going to make him more determined to do better against West Ham on Saturday, as the tweet suggests. He wants what’s best for Arsenal, but also for himself. Going three games without a goal may not seem like a biggie, but to Aubameyang, this is not what he sets out to achieve.

He is a real contender for the golden boot this season, and many still predict him to do so despite rivals catching ground. If he scores only against the likes of West Ham then so be it, I’m sure many Arsenal fans will be in the same boat as Alexandre Lacazette and Ian Wright…

There’s never been a better opportunity.

Playing against Manchester City and Chelsea, he was playing against experienced defenders, who know all about strikers like him. However, it will be a different tale against West Ham. He will be able to stretch the malleable defenders, receiving balls from the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

He will have been hard in training, focusing on his speed and fast thinking. Unai Emery will have provided drills specifically for him, as he looks to up his confidence. When Aubameyang plays well, Arsenal will naturally play well.

Do you think Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will come through against West Ham?
