Real Madrid have sent Martin Odegaard out on loan to Vitesse Arnhem.

Now many of you may be wondering why I’m covering this topic, as you’ve probably never heard of Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard is a very interesting prospect who has had an equally interesting career so far. He signed for Real Madrid at 15 years old and made his debut for the club at 16.

More from Real Madrid

He was naturally labeled as a Wonder Kid, which is a curse that weighs on young talents. Most “Wonder Kids” end up as flips due to the pressure the media has put on them. Occasionally the youngsters live up to the hype and become household names.

Well Martin Odegaard is kinda stuck in between.

Signing for such a high level club while in his early teens and being a National team regular should lead to more name recognition— at least you’d think that.

You’re probably wondering why you’ve never heard of this kid with what he was able to do at such a young age.

Well the reason is he just hasn’t done anything of note at the club level so far. While he did make a senior appearance at 16 years old he’s only made one since.

He trained with the likes of Ronaldo for the senior team but spent most of his time in the Spanish third division during the season.

This is Odegaard’s second loan spell, both in the Netherlands, in the last few seasons. Odegaard hasn’t lit up the smaller Dutch league which makes people question if he can make it at Real Madrid.

It feels like Odegaard has been playing for much longer but he’s only 19 years old, and to write off a kid who signed for Real at 15 this early in his career is absurd.

Odegaard is a Wonder Kid who got caught in the middle. He’s not known for being a bust and he’s not known for being a star. He’s just not known period.

Only time will tell which side he ends up on or if he stays lost in no mans land.

Next. Chelsea: Ruben Loftus-Cheek should stay and fight for his place. dark

What do you think will come of Martin Odegaard? Have you even heard of him? Let me know.
