Juventus didn’t quite give Ronaldo the debut they’d have been hoping to last weekend.

Early on, it looked like Juve would cruise. They came out strong, scoring in the 3rd minute from a set piece, but things didn’t go quite so smoothly from there. They surrendered two goals to Chievo in the next 53 minutes.

From there they made a couple of changes, some of which could factor in their next game, that swing the game back in their favor. In spite of their disappointing performance, Juve managed to rescue a win. An own goal from Mattia Bani and a stoppage time winner from Federico Bernardeschi managed to save Juve from major disappointment in the season opener.

This week Juventus will need to be much better. They are facing a Lazio team that finished 5th last year in a match that will be the first Serie A match televised on ESPN2. There will be big expectations for Juve in this match, but there will need to be some changes made for Juve to impress in their debut on an ESPN network.

Luckily for Juve, they escaped Verona with 3 points and the whole squad healthy. This leaves them with plenty of options for their starting lineup against Lazio. It’s reasonable to expect that the team will begin to round into form with the season opener out of the way. There are still a couple of changes that need to be made for Juve to perform at their best and start the season with 2 wins. One of those changes should be a formation change, but we can expect to see the 4-2-3-1 again this week.
