FC Barcelona would be silly to sell Ivan Rakitic to Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Ivan Rakitic of FC Barcelona. But the Catalan club would be silly to let him go…
La Liga will be hotly contested this season. It will be full of drama, as it so often is. With Atletico Madrid looking like a force and Real Madrid looking like they could cause a few spills, it’s important FC Barcelona remain on top of their game. To do that, they must avoid losing any key players – something which Real Madrid have done.
It was reported that Paris Saint-Germain would pursue Ivan Rakitic, a midfield general in Barca’s ranks. But, according to Evening Standard, Barcelona have no plans to let go of Rakitic. Here’s why that’s a good thing…
A midfielder full of confidence.

Rakitic was a shining star at the World Cup. He was one half of a midfield pairing that reached the final, in which he was partnered alongside Luka Modric. While that name doesn’t go down too well in Catalonia, there’s no doubt that Rakitic will have learned plenty from their summer together.
In fact, Rakitic even picked up a goal against Lionel Messi’s Argentina, a match in which the midfielder was deemed WhoScored‘s man of the match. He played back-to-back extra times, which would have helped him on a stamina front.
Barcelona fans will hope he can take his confidence and transcend it on Spanish soil. Something which he can definitely do, so be sure to watch out for him this season.
Big boots to fill.
With the departure of Andres Iniesta only just beginning to feel real, Rakitic will know that it’s on him to make the Barca fans feel at ease. It’s not going to be easy, Iniesta is a contender to be one of the best midfielders of all time.
However, their styles are somewhat similar. While Rakitic doesn’t particularly have the Spanish flair to match Iniesta, he is able to dictate play in the middle. This is something which is praised in Spain, and it’s something which the Croatian has adopted during his tenure with Barcelona.
In the market currently, there aren’t many players who are worthy of coming to Catalonia and replacing Rakitic in the starting XI. He’s a very underappreciated player, so that might be a hard pill to swallow, but it’s hard to dispute. Why look for an answer externally when the answer lies within?
Do you think Ivan Rakitic should be sold by FC Barcelona?
