Sevilla are looking to make even more additions to their already stacked squad

Sevilla have had one of the most exciting transfer windows in Europe. Players both leaving and joining the club have made for such an interesting squad filled with talent and new faces.

The club sold some key players for a healthy sum, with Steven Nzonzi and Clement Lenglet selling for over £60 million total. They have also brought a few promising faces into the team, with Joris Gnagnon and Ibrahim Amadou joining from Ligue 1.

Now, the Spanish club is going after a PSG player that seems to be out of favor. German forward Julian Draxler is the wanted man, and his lack of playing time could heavily influence the move.

Draxler was a common sight in the PSG squad last season. He made 46 appearances for the French giants and used his masterful dribbling skills to create chances for his team. This season, though, he is farther down in the pecking order.

American starlet Timothy Weah and Edinson Cavani are the teams two strikers. Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Kylian Mbappe all play on the wings, while Christopher Nkunku can slot in when necessary. This leaves little room for Draxler overall.

This is what makes Sevilla even more enticing for Draxler. He will be able to play on the wings, feeding the likes of Andre Silva and Luis Muriel in attack. The usual 3421 formation Sevilla plays will also give Draxler some flexibility.

Sevilla can deploy Draxler as a central midfielder if needed. This would put his play making skills on display and allow Draxler to influence the game at a different angle. It also means that he is a depth option for multiple positions, making him an even more desirable player for Sevilla.

PSG seem to be focusing on developing the youth they have instead of continuing to reap the rewards of Draxler’s growth. This is a perfect opportunity for Draxler to leave the club. He can continue to develop as a player while being valued at a club that is fighting for European glory.

Joining Sevilla may be looked at as a step down for Draxler, but getting consistent minutes is much more important than just being on a good team. Sevilla have started their Europa League qualification strongly, so Draxler may be that extra little boost they need to keep the trophy in Spanish hands.
