Right Back- Sergi Roberto- 7/10

Sergi Roberto is versatile as ever under Ernesto Valverde and was deployed at right back by the former Athletic Bilbao manager. He was calm on the ball and did his fair portion to help in the team’s attacking. In addition, he set up Ousmane Dembele in what was the only goal of the match with a beautiful header into the France international’s right foot.

Centre Back- Samuel Umtiti- 6/10

The World Cup winner justified why he has won football’s biggest award in great fashion. The hosts were on top for the entirety of the game but could not get a sniff of the goal mainly due to Umtiti. The 25 year old defended very well and cut out the opponent’s low cross in due time. All in all, it was a good performance but he can surely do better.

Centre Back- Gerard Pique- 5/10

The central defender was absolutely poor in this one. Gerard Pique was caught out of position so many times in Spain’s World Cup campaign and was no different in Barcelona’s latest match either. He was looking spaced out for majority of the ninety minutes and even failed to catch out a cross that led to Valladolid’s ruled out goal.

Left Back- Jordi Alba- 6/10

Jordi Alba is not very used to defending but was forced to do so by Keko, Valladolid’s right winger. The Spaniard denied an opening to his man with a well taken defensive clearance. That was probably the only highlight of Alba’s game. The left back let Keko run free to score a goal that looked very easy but the chance was wasted.
