Right Winger- Lionel Messi- 4/10

Lionel Messi had one of his off nights in spite of being one of the world’s best players. The Argentina international did not perform even half of what is expected off him and raised a worry about Barcelona’s over dependence of him. If such performances continue, his manager Ernesto Valverde surely has a reason to worry about. It is a worry for Barcelona that nobody seemed on top when Messi was not delivering. It has been claimed before and it could be claimed now- Messi’s frailties might be visible after Andres Iniesta’s departure and Suarez’s age!

Striker- Luis Suarez- 5/10

The Uruguay international has been horrible this season and has been showing signs of having aged. He is 31 now and Barcelona must start phasing him out slowly. He signaled his age factor yet again versus Valladolid with poor touches and slow reactions to getting the ball. He still attempted to score and was not too bad. Yet, Valverde now has to use his resources to start replacing the former Liverpool striker.

Left Winger- Ousmane Dembele- 5/10

Ousmane Dembele dispatched a cute finish past Jordi Masip to score Barcelona’s only goal. However, he was horrible throughout the entire game. A passing percentage of just 66.67% was horrible and in conclusion he had a really frustrating evening. Nevertheless, he has proven to be a top player for Barcelona amid links with Arsenal. He scored their winner in the Spanish Super Cup and did the same against Real Valladolid in the La Liga. He looks set for a bigger role this season with 3 out of 3 possible starts under his belt.
