Juventus player ratings vs Lazio: Juve impresses in 4-3-3
By John Vaccaro
RB: Joao Cancelo 8.5/10
Joao Cancelo certainly redeemed himself in his second start for Juve. He struggled mightily in his debut. Today he was fantastic for Juve. He played a strong game defensively, registering 3 tackles and 1 interception.
He also looked substantially more threatening in attack, consistently getting forward for Juve and sending in 8 crosses. One of those crosses set Juve up for their second goal and would’ve earned him his first Juve assist if Ronaldo didn’t block his own shot. Cancelo locked down this right back position the week and showed Juve fans just how big of a piece he can be for Juve.
CB: Giorgio Chiellini 7.5/10
Giorgio Chiellini was solid as usual at the center of Juve’s defense. He made 2 interceptions and 7 clearances and as always kept Juve’s back line organized. His partnership with Bonucci looked today like it did during their first stint together when Juve had one of the two best defenses in the world. Chiellini didn’t do anything spectacular, but he still had a very good day.
CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7/10
Leonardo Bonucci continues to try to regain the acceptance of Juve fans. His two tackles, one interception, and one clearance surely reminded Juve fans why he was so beloved the first time with the club. We even got a taste of his incredible passing once this week. He sent a ball into the box that eventually ended up with Sami Khedira getting a shot that was only kept out by the post. Bonucci continued to show Juve fans how valuable he will be to the defense this season.
LB: Alex Sandro 6.5/10
Alex Sandro wasn’t quite as incredible as he was last weekend. He managed to contribute 2 interceptions and 2 clearances, but had his shaky moments. He also sent in 3 crosses, but none of those crosses created anything for Juve. He was still a net positive for Juve on a very positive day, but it wasn’t his strongest performance.
