Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson looks set to join Hoffenheim on loan, but this is a good thing for Arsenal.
Loan moves can be hit and miss. While many football fans would encourage not to send their youngsters out on loan, Arsenal are finally in a position where they can do just that. They don’t exactly have a squad overhaul, but they have the necessary means to rotate their squad when necessary.
Reiss Nelson, coming off the back of another impressive pre-season, will travel to Germany to learn a thing or two on loan. ESPN report the Englishman will join Hoffenheim, who need to show improvement from their opening day loss to Bayern Munich.

What’s important for Nelson is that he goes over there with an open mind. He shouldn’t take this as a loss to his career, because I’m certain Unai Emery sees the spark in him. He seems like quite the laid-back character, so he isn’t going to take this decision as an ego-buster.
The German game is undeniably a lot different to the English game which he is used to. In Germany, there is a strong reliance on discipline, and that includes the attackers too. We often see the wingers cut inside, but the applauds come from traditional winger work – sticking to your position and crossing in the ball whenever necessary.
Reiss Nelson will be whipping balls into the striker Adám Szalai. Albeit he doesn’t have the forward’s ability in which Sandro Wagner possessed, the Hungarian forward is more than capable of making the most of balls into him. Nelson has a good cross, and he makes this possible from his fine work on the ball to beat his opposing number.
He will have determination to reach the Arsenal first team, although it’s not easy with their star-studded attack. He has shown his ability to play in a variety of positions, but there’s no denying that playing out on the wing is where he thrives the most. He should keep his head down, have his mind open and look to impress his new club.
Do you think Reiss Nelson will come back to Arsenal as a new player?
