Center Back: Giorgio Chiellini

This prediction is going to get redundant pretty quickly this season. Giorgio Chiellini will be holding this position all season barring injury. He had yet another strong performance against Lazio last weekend. His 2 interceptions and 7 clearances were a large part of Juventus keeping Lazio’s attack from ever truly threatening.

Chiellini wasn’t able to contribute on the attacking end against Lazio like he was with his assist against Chievo, but his defensive contributions are always more than enough. Juve’s captain shows no sign of slowing down at 34 years old and will once again be a key piece of the defense against Parma this weekend.

Center Back: Leonardo Bonucci

Leonardo Bonucci continues to endear himself to Juventus fans as he seeks redemption in his return. Bonucci made 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, and a clearance against Lazio, but it wasn’t just his defensive performance that should excite Juventus fans. Against Lazio we saw Bonucci’s passing prowess put on display. He played a beautiful long ball into the box that almost led to a goal from Sami Khedira. It was a clear reminder to Juve fans of what they were missing without him last year.

Against Lazio, Bonucci and Chiellini began to look like the combo we saw during Bonucci’s last stint with Juventus. As they continue to regain their chemistry they could once again form the world’s premier center back pairing. Juventus will be depending on this pairing when it’s time for Champions League, so expect to once again see Bonucci given a chance to rebuild his chemistry with Chiellini on Saturday against Parma.
