3. Youngsters full of energy

Particularly early on in the competition, high-end clubs like to use the game time for younger players who struggle to get in elsewhere. This was a method Arsene Wenger adopted last season, and Unai Emery has the means to replicate his approach.

A number of young Arsenal stars will be hoping to impress Europe, like they did last season. One thing you can’t fault Arsenal for is their youth prodigies, as a large portion of them have the right attitude and show promising signs whenever they feature.

More from Arsenal FC

Ainsley Maitland-Niles unfortunately suffered an injury against Manchester City, but he will hope to be back in time for the competition and impress yet again. It was this competition which allowed him his breakthrough last season, so he will have many fond memories.

Emile Smith Rowe will also be looking forward to the opportunity. Smith Rowe was one of the players who impressed during pre-season, grabbing a goal against the team who knocked Arsenal out of the competition last season. He’s a very positive, attack-minded player who will look to drive forward in each and every match.

Matteo Guendouzi is already a Premier League star, so time will tell if he features for Arsenal early on in the Europa League, but he definitely deserves it. Other notable names include Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding, both of which can’t make the first team currently.

That said, the Gunners certainly have the squad depth which will benefit them in long away days, but will they have the quality? The Europa League relies on nerve and keeping your bottle, something Arsenal have a love-hate relationship with. I believe this is their best opportunity for silverware, and they’re definitely a heavy favorite early on.
