CM: Miralem Pjanic 8/10

Miralem Pjanic wasn’t able to register a goal or an assist this week, but he made some nice contributions and had one pretty ridiculous stat. Pjanic contributed 4 key passes, but even more impressively, he completed ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of his passes. All 66 of his attempted passes found their targets in one of the more impressive recents I can recall for a Juve player.

He wasn’t able to make a pass that really opened up the Parma defense, but he was steady for Juve in the midfield and steady was a pretty big deal for Juve on a shaky day.

CM: Sami Khedira 6/10

Sami Khedira’s days of holding down a starting spot may be coming to a close. He had minimal impact for Juve for the second consecutive match. He managed to get off a couple of inconsequential shots and made 2 tackles, but really seemed to be a nonfactor.

Khedira needed to commit to either trying to make a bigger impact on the attack or defense, but was really not impactful for either. This was not the type of performance you’d like to see from a player fighting to start at a crowded position. It might be time for Allegri to start looking for his replacement.

CM: Blaise Matuidi 9/10

I love everything about Blaise Matuidi in this 4-3-3. He is a dominating presence in the midfield and should have secured a permanent starting spot after this performance. He only contributed 2 tackles in this game, but the guy was everywhere and made on other key contribution.

Matuidi’s motor was rewarded in the 58th minute when Mandzukic flicked a ball to him that he buried in the top of the net. He was one of Juve’s most impressive players on the day and there should be no question about him starting alongside Pjanic in the midfield going this far.
