Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United job is under scrutiny following a poor Premier League start. Now, the Red Devils’ boss has spoken about his job concerns.

Manchester United claimed a 2-0 win at the Turf Moor against Burnley courtesy of Romelu Lukaku’s brace. The Red Devils put behind them, a series of two successive defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur while their very first game was an unconvincing win against Leicester City.

It has been a far from ideal start for the Premier League giants to life in Jose Mourinho’s third season with the club. The ‘third season syndrome’ has seemed to strike the former Chelsea boss and things are only going downhill for the 55 year old since the start of this summer, including the pre-season.

More from Manchester United

Mourinho was never provided with enough support and backing in the transfer market by Ed Woodward and his officials which led to him having a trimmed squad. Moreover, he passed negative comments against his players even in pre-season which was responsible for a mood off in the Manchester United training camp.

The Portuguese boss is under scrutiny now with rumours circulating that one more defeat spelling his end at the Old Trafford. He is reported to be earning somewhere in the range of 15 million pounds annually by the Red Devils with his contract running until June 2020. As per claims, the clause in his contract states that he be paid one year’s salary if his contract is prematurely terminated by the club.

When asked about what he felt about his job, the United boss said,” They say I’m in danger but I don’t think it, if they send me away, do you have any idea how much money they would have to give me? Ah ah.”

There was also a banner calling Ed Woodward a ‘specialist in failure’ that flew over the Turf Moor during the game. A journalist jokingly questioned Mourinho if he had paid for it to be flown. “No… but I could have!” Mourinho apparently replied in jest.
