The international break doesn’t need to be dull, and Chelsea’s talisman Eden Hazard only proved that last night.

Premier League clubs are often wary of international breaks, as it’s a common theme to see star players suffer a knock. Chelsea, like many other clubs, have had their fair share of disappointing international breaks, but this particular break has served them well.

Eden Hazard represents Belgium, and perhaps inevitably, he was exceptional once more last night against Scotland. Captaining his country on the night, he certainly made his contribution. In just under an hour of international football, Hazard contributed to a goal and an assist.

More from Chelsea FC

His contributions were recognized by the Red Devils, as they provided their best atmosphere to Hampden Park. Once he came off in the second half, just before the hour mark, the crowd began to die down a little. This just goes to show his importance to not only his team, but also his teammates.

He’s had an incredible start to the season, both for Chelsea and for Belgium. Despite playing just over 200 minutes for Chelsea in the Premier League, Hazard has provided two assists and scored the same amount himself.

While goal contributions were never really his strong point, he is beginning to show his end product and being more selfish. This is what the Chelsea faithful were calling for, so they’ll be glad to see him transcending his goal scoring form into the international break. If he can fly back to London injury-free, then it will be hard to stop the rampant blues with their star player.

Maurizio Sarri has worked wonders with his confidence. Nobody knew whether or not the Belgian would improve after Antonio Conte, but he most certainly did. He is given the free-roaming role, applying his trade all over the opposition’s half. He dictates the attacking play in his own unique way, a trait which we witnessed in action against Scotland last night.

The game finished 4-0, Belgium running rampant over the frail Scottish side, who are short of confidence inevitably. If you wish to witness Eden Hazard in action, which I wouldn’t blame you for, then keep an eye out as Belgium take on Iceland this Tuesday. I’m certain Hazard will play his part, so don’t you worry about that.

How would you rate Hazard’s season so far out of 10?
