Ruben Neves has a decision on his hands, with both Manchester United and City after his signature.

Wolves won promotion from the EFL Championship last season, with one player capturing the hearts of many. He goes by the name of Ruben Neves, and if you’re a Manchester United fan, you’re probably familiar with the name.

The Portuguese midfielder is involved in a transfer tussle between the two Manchester clubs, according to The Sun. Of course, there are plenty of reasons why City are a more attractive club than United currently, but we shouldn’t be too quick to brush the Red Devils aside.

Manchester United will only rise.

More from Manchester United

It’s been a difficult start to the season for the red side of Manchester. They find themselves in 10th place, suffering two losses and winning twice along the way. Being just one point ahead of Wolves, who Neves plays for, is an upgrade but not the upgrade he would have expected. All in all, United should be doing better.

However, this could give Neves hope. United are expected to get better, and perhaps even compete for a Champions League spot once they pick up a rhythm. Jose Mourinho has been in this position before, and he’ll know that if he doesn’t improve, the board will begin to look at other suitors.

A potential new narrative.

The main contender to succeed Mourinho is Zinedine Zidane. According to The Mirror, the Frenchman is already preparing a list of transfer targets should he land the opening. I would assume he’s been keeping a keen eye on Neves.

Then, it would become a competition of Zidane vs Pep Guardiola. This can be argued either way, but for me, it’s Zidane who is the better manager of the two – currently, obviously. Managing Real Madrid, he picked up three consecutive Champions League titles, then he decided to leave before the World Cup this summer. He had the odd issue with man-management, something which Guardiola excels at.

Obviously, this is only my opinion. Nobody knows which club Neves would rather join at this time, which makes for the interesting saga as a neutral. This isn’t the only time the Manchester rivals have battled off the pitch, and it sure won’t be the last.

No matter where he goes, the midfielder is going to be a success. He has shown a variety of traits which indicate promise at Wolves. Known for his fiery long-shot, he shouldn’t be limited to this, as we will soon see more of.

Next. Manchester United should make a move for Atletico Madrid star. dark
