Manchester United have been whey below expectations this season and that needs to change fast. Here’s how the Reds have fared so far.
Manchester United are always top contenders for the Premier League title irrespective of how things are going on in the club. However, things have been far from ideal for the Red Devils in their bid to lift the league trophy after five long seasons. While it is still very early to construct a concrete conclusion to things at the club, their chances of winning the title from hereon are weak.
The atmosphere in the offices off the field in Manchester never seemed positive since the season started and it’s still not looking otherwise. Jose Mourinho was never backed with good signings throughout the summer transfer window by Ed Woodward.

To pile on to the misery, the former Chelsea boss made negative comments about United’s young squad at the US Tour. He also strained relations with Anthony Martial who had left the North American camp to cater to his partner who delivered a child.
The Red Devils have been pragmatic in their two wins this season and anything but impressive. Leicester City were seen off at Old Trafford in the first match week by an unconvincing victory.
A loss at Brighton and another catastrophe against Tottenham Hotspur at the Old Trafford put Jose’s job under jeopardy. But thankfully a win at Burnley by a 2-0 score line was enough for Mourinho to save his job at least until the season’s first international break.
Manchester United have been just about functional this season and need to work very hard if they want to achieve anything big at the end of this campaign. Ed Woodward needs to stop behaving like a cheapskate and start spending the funds of the right kind of players. From Jose Mourinho’s part, relationships with the players and media need to improve with a huge amount of ego needed to be kept aside.
Two wins and two losses with six goals scored and seven conceded in four Premier League matches is how the league standings read for Manchester United. It is far from what was expected of them and everyone at the club needs to take responsibility sooner than later if the United ship is to be steadied. On a scale of 1 to 10, the campaign so far deserves a 5.
