It would be the best revenge for Arsenal fans to snatch Anthony Martial from Manchester United…
Arsenal have had a fierce rivalry with Jose Mourinho for many years now. Even after he left Chelsea, and even now Arsene Wenger has left the Gunners. It’s fair to say that the two mentioned don’t get along very well. And what would be the best ending for Arsenal fans? Signing a star player of United’s, of course.
We all know about the infamous ‘Jose Mourinho curse.’ It refers to the number of players he has let go during his time, of which then went on to become stars. There has been no examples of this for Manchester United, but I have a strong feeling Anthony Martial will be the first.

It doesn’t look likely that the Frenchman will remain at the club. As reported by Express, Mourinho has already lost patience with Martial, with Arsenal and Tottenham both interested in acquiring his signature. Ed Woodward and company will almost certainly be wary about selling to a league rival, but there’s no harm in trying from Arsenal’s perspective.
Unai Emery is beginning to build a positive environment in London. Although he lost his first two games, the Gunners look to be on the rise for the season, with a number of new players settling into the team well. There’s no denying that Martial would find himself in the squad, joking around with the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Alexandre Lacazette.
Martial was linked with Arsenal last season, when Wenger was at the helm. He’s very much a Wenger-type signing, but he was quick to brush aside those rumours on social media. There’s only so long he can pledge his loyalty to a manager who isn’t treating him right, though.
Unai Emery is a man of extensive research, so if the Gunners do capitalize on his situation, then the head coach will work hard to integrate him into the squad. He would be in competition for places, but with Arsenal in the Europa League, Martial wouldn’t find it hard to create game time.
It’s all very early days, and at this stage, I don’t think Arsenal will chase Martial. However, given his club situation at the moment, we shouldn’t put it past Unai Emery and company to come knocking at Old Trafford.
Do you think Arsenal will make moves in their interest, or will these rumours just fly by again?
