CM: Sami Khedira 6/10

I was glad to see Khedira start this match for one reason and one reason only, it hopefully means he won’t start against Valencia. Khedira doesn’t have what it takes to compete at the highest levels anymore and that’s something Allegri needs to learn. Allegri even named him captain for this match even though Mario Mandzukic was more deserving of the honor. His performance in this match was as average as he has been throughout the season. He made a small contribution defensively, but offered very little moving forward. He isn’t suited to his role in the squad and there is reason to believe he will soon be relegated to a rotational role.

CM: Blaise Matuidi 7/10

Blaise Matuidi wasn’t as impressive against Sassuolo as he had been in Juve’s previous two matches. He made 2 tackles and 2 interceptions, but that was most of his contribution to the match. He’s not somebody that generally offers a ton going forward, so he needs to be a bigger presence defensively. He should still be a regular starter for Juve and his spot on Wednesday should be safe unless fatigue becomes an issue for him.

CM: Emre Can 7.5/10

Emre Can was impressive in his first Juventus start. He completed 88 percent of his passes and supplied the assist for the second goal. He played Ronaldo through on a breakaway for the second goal of the match. Allegri usually takes a while to integrate new signings, but if Can’s first start is any indication, that trial period should end fr him quickly. He was Juve’s best midfielder against Sassuolo and could now have a part to play against Valencia.
