Manchester United could chase Arsenal superstar in January
By Kian Long
Sounds familiar doesn’t it, Manchester United fans?
Manchester United failed to strengthen heavily this summer, and the results have shown in their league position. They sit in 8th place, behind the five other teams expected to compete for the top six places. It’s only been 5 games, but Jose Mourinho would have hoped to be in a better position by now.
With clubs around them strengthening heavily in the transfer window, it’s important United make up for lost ground in January. They may look to Arsenal yet again to do just that. According to Express, Mourinho is plotting a January move for Mesut Ozil, who rejected the chance to sign earlier on in the year by extending his Arsenal contract.
United won’t want an Alexis repeat.

It’s quite strange to see Mourinho heading back to Arsenal, especially after being rejected by his former player last season. Not only that, but they don’t exactly have the best transfer history in recent times.
Alexis Sanchez signed as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way, but strangely enough, Arsenal ended up getting the better side of the deal.
Alexis has been below par since he signed for United, and his facial expressions and body language show that. We aren’t seeing the same Alexis who used to play for the Gunners, in fact the rampant Chilean talisman seems to be a thing of the past now.
You remember him, don’t you? The guy who scored for fun, who kept Arsenal afloat for consecutive seasons? Believe it or not, that’s who United signed.
Nevertheless, this isn’t about Alexis. It’s about his old teammate Mesut, who will be feeling better than ever after his goal against Newcastle. There has been a lot of talk regarding his relationship with Unai Emery lately, both of which claiming the working relationship is healthy.
At this stage of his career, there’s no reason for Ozil to go back to working with Mourinho. If he really is enjoying life under Emery, which seems to be the case, then he shouldn’t look for a new adventure.
Ozil is nearing 30, so perhaps in a few seasons he will leave. He has said before that he would like to play in Turkey, but I can’t see him playing for another Premier League club after Arsenal. He’s spent a surprisingly sustained period of time in London, and the club has definitely treated him well.
Do you think Arsenal fans should be threatened by Manchester United’s interest?
