With the UEFA Champions League set to make its long awaited return on Tuesday, we take a look at some of Manchester United’s best ever moments in Europe’s premier club competition.

Manchester United have enjoyed some truly incredible moments in the UEFA Champions League over the years. The Red Devils have won the competition three times and have created several special memories along the way.

Manchester United have been a regular feature in the UEFA Champions League over the years, having appeared in the competition 27 times. They rank fourth in the number of matches played (269) and the number of matches won (150), behind only Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The Theatre of Dreams has seen some magical European nights over the course of Manchester United’s storied history. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United enjoyed a lot of success in the Champions League. United used to be one of the most feared teams in Europe and gave us some of the most memorable performances in the competition’s modern history.

There are so many wonderful moments to look back on. Manchester United have enjoyed so many special victories, stunning goals and history making moments in the competition.

While the Old Trafford club are no longer the European powerhouse they used to be in the early 2000s, Jose Mourinho’s men will be hoping to bring the good times back this season. But before that, let us take a trip down memory lane as we take a look at Manchester United’s five best moments in the UEFA Champions League.
