Projected Juventus lineup for Champions League clash with Valencia
By John Vaccaro
LB: Alex Sandro
Alex Sandro will once again reprise his role as Juve’s starting left back. He is already in great form this season and Juve will be hoping he maintains that in this match. Sandro should play a major role in this match. He is always a key part of keeping opponents from getting space on the wings, but in this match it will be his attacking prowess that will be most important. Valencia’s 4-4-2 should give Sandro extra freedom to press forward for Juve. Sandro pressing forward will give Ronaldo more freedom to make runs into the box. Expect Sandro to have a big impact on Wednesday.
RB: Joao Cancelo
Joao Cancelo has looked fantastic in the 3 matches since his awful Juve debut. Even if he hadn’t, Juve wouldn’t really have another choice because of De Sciglio’s injury. Much like Sandro, Cancelo will make a big contribution to the attack. He has integrated seamlessly into the Juve attack over recent matches and once again showed why he was worth his price tag during the Sassuolo match. He will however be tasked with a stiffer challenge defensively as he takes on Jose Gaya on either Denis Cheryshev or Daniel Wass on his flank. Juve will need to hope that fatigue doesn’t become a factor for Cancelo any time soon as he has yet to get a break this season, including the international break where he played 2 matches for Portugal. With the talent possessed by Sandro and Cancelo, Juve should have gain a big advantage from there full backs.
