Christian Eriksen-7.5

Let’s get one thing straight here. Eriksen did a good job creating chances against Inter, but his goal was the result of good luck. You can’t upgrade his performance just because he managed to slot home a heavily deflected shot.

Despite that fact, you can’t criticize the way the talented Dane played at Inter. He pulled the strings for the Spurs attack for most of the match. Eriksen was particularly good early in the second half when Tottenham really took control. He deserved better than a crushing loss.

Son Heung-Min-5.5

Son gets a free pass from most Tottenham fans on social media, but his lack of willingness to defend in this match was a real problem. He’d do well to study Perisic’s game to understand just how a two-way winger can boost his team on both ends of the pitch.

Son wasn’t necessarily a bad player, but the team was much better when he left the game for Lucas Moura. In full fairness to the Korean star, he has every right to be knackered. Spurs continue to take a huge risk by playing him so soon after his return from the Asian games.

Erik Lamela-6.5

The talented Argentine continues to be one of the most underappreciated players in the Tottenham squad. He doesn’t always stand out offensively, but whenever he leaves or exits the pitch the squad looks noticeably different. It’s time for him to be a regular member of the starting XI once again.

It was Lamela, not Eriksen, who created the best chances for Spurs. He easily could have killed the match off with a second goal with a little bit of good fortune. Some fans will slate him for his lack of clinical finishing, but we choose to applaud him for creating multiple chances. The goals will come.
