CM: Miralem Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic was able to make a massive impact for Juve on Wednesday in a match that wasn’t designed for him to perform well. His 2 goals delivered Juventus 3 points in a match where they were put in a tough spot early on. His two penalty finishes were perfect and badly needed by a 10-man Juve.

He will be the midfielder that draws the short straw here as he doesn’t get the chance to rest against Frosinone. With Khedira injured and Matuidi having played 4 matches in 2 weeks it falls upon Pjanic to provide experience in the midfield. He has an opportunity to put on an impressive performance against Frosinone before likely getting a rest in the middle of the week.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur is another young talent that Juventus needs to find playing time for. He has yet to get a start for Juve this season and has only played a total of 24 minutes this season. Last season he played well when given the opportunity to play and showed some improvement in the World Cup.

Bentancur will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Juve’s current midfield situation. Letting Claudio Marchisio go over the summer already opened up time in the midfield, especially once they switched to the 4-3-3. Khedira’s injury will open up plenty of opportunity in the midfield with only 4 central midfielders available and a packed schedule coming up. The only benefit of Juve’s midfield issues is that we will get to see a promising young talent continue to develop.
