Left Winger- Ousmane Dembele- 6/10

Ousmane Dembele was expected to keep his purple patch running as he got yet another start in what is turning out to be his breakthrough season. Unfortunately, Clement Lenglet’s marching orders and a necessity to change the system resulted in his withdrawal for his compatriot Samuel Umtiti. In spite of playing one full half, Dembele seemed to have been lacking the creative and goal scoring flare. His speed also did not look on terms with his usual standard.

Striker- Luis Suarez- 5/10

The display versus Girona was an absolute howler by the Uruguay international. After enjoying a spell of hot form in front of the goal posts, it looked like the former Liverpool striker was eventually rejuvenating and hitting positive shape but it was anything but against Barcelona’s Catalan neighbors. It looked like Suarez had run out of gas just post the hour mark and did virtually nothing in the latter stages. He tried to attract a few fouls by going down easily which were rebuffed by the official, rightly so.

Right Winger- Leo Messi- 8/10

As expected, Messi was Barcelona’s best player alongside Gerard Pique. What separated him from rest of his teammates was the desire to get the three points until the end and an ominous personality until the final whistle blew on the night. Messi scored the opening goal of the night with a coolly slotted finish into the bottom corner past Yassine Bono. It was Leo’s fifth league goal of the season.
