Juventus player ratings vs Frosinone: Cristiano Ronaldo save Juve from embarrasment
By John Vaccaro
LB: Alex Sandro 7/10
This was a very uneven performance for Alex Sandro. He played as well as you’d expect on defense, making 4 tackles and 2 interceptions. However, in a match where Juventus looked awful in attack, Sandro did very little to make it look any better. He sent in 9 crosses, but only 1 of those managed to find its target. This was a perfect match for Sandro to showcase his attacking talents as Frosinone posed little attacking threat of their own, but he was unable to really make a mark on the match.
CB: Giorgio Chiellini 7.5/10
You know Juve’s defense is having an easy day when Giorgio Chiellini starts to venture forward. He didn’t have much to do defensively, but did manage to make 3 tackles and 3 clearances. He also completed 92.4% of his passes. He wasn’t asked to do much on the day, but he performed well when he was called into action. That’s really all you can ask in a match like this.
CB: Daniele Rugani 7/10
As hard as it is to believe, Rugani actually had even less to do than Chiellini. He didn’t make a single tackle and only contributed 1 interception and 1 clearance. He completed 95.7% of his 46 attempted passes. This was a perfect opportunity for him to get some playing time and he didn’t make any mistakes in that time. There wasn’t much to this performance, but it least should help him get into form for the rest of this season.
RB: Juan Cuadrado 6/10
Juve was forced into starting Cuadrado at right back. They unfortunately don’t have any full backs available off the bench with Spinazzola out until November and Mattia De Sciglio getting injured again last week. If Cuadrado is going to find playing time as a defender then he needs to provide more in attack as he doesn’t offer much defensively. In this match he wasn’t able to send in an accurate cross or really pose any kind of a threat for the attack. Luckily his defense wasn’t an issue against Frosinone, but if Juve is going to continue using him here he’s going to need to offer more in attack to make up for his usually lackluster defensive performances.
