Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil faced a tough summer, with Joachim Low being in the middle of it all. Now, Unai Emery has blocked Low from seeing his player, and it’s great to see.

Bravo, Unai. The new Arsenal coach has made the club his own, within a matter of just months. The players are showing him the ultimate respect currently, and in return he is protecting them and picking up points on the board. According to Daily Star, he blocked Joachim Low from discussing his current state of affairs with Mesut Ozil.

The two of them were involved in controversy over the summer, which eventually resulted in Ozil retiring from international football. The German born player accused his national team of racism, due to him having a strong Turkish background.

He bravely spoke out about it, which of course resulted in media backlash towards the German setup. It’s reported that Low, the manager of the German national team, wanted to visit Ozil at the Arsenal training camp to cool the tension between him and the German FA.

Something as serious as racism is hard to forgive, but Emery wasn’t having none of it anyway. There is a positive aura around Arsenal at the moment, and the Spaniard won’t want that to be hindered.  Low had his chance to settle the injustice while he was managing Ozil, so you can see Emery’s thinking in that regard.

Ozil scored in two consecutive games recently, against Newcastle and against Vorskla in the Europa League. Overall this season he’s been impressive. It took him a while to settle into Emery’s way, but now you can often see him pick up positive signs while on the ball.

It’s expected to be a big season from him, his first for Arsenal without Arsene Wenger. He will have what happened with Germany nagging at the back of his mind, but the Gunners will hope he can use this as inspiration to achieve this season.

Do you think Emery is denying Low of a second chance, or do you find his protection of Ozil admirable? Let me know in the comments section below.
