Arsenal are interested in signing £20m-rated Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, who has been dubbed as the next Ousmane Dembele.

The Senegalese international is one of Europe’s top prospects and has attracted the interest of a number of big clubs following his breakthrough year with French side Rennes. And according to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are ready to battle it out for his signature.

Ismaila Sarr enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign with Senegal and has continued to impress in the Ligue 1 and the Europa League for Rennes. The 20 year old has scored three goals in seven appearances so far this season in all competitions.

Sarr rejected Barcelona to join Rennes at the start of last season for 15 million pounds and caught the eye straight away. His performances have drawn comparisons with Ousmane Dembele, who also enjoyed his breakthrough with Rennes before joining Borussia Dortmund and then Barcelona. Ismaila Sarr was also named on the 60-man Golden Boy shortlist earlier this month.

Arsenal are in the market for a winger and have been linked with a number of talented wide players in the last few months. The Gunners were interested in bringing Ousmane Dembele on loan in the summer, but a move failed to materialize. Unai Emery’s side have also been linked with LOSC Lille winger Nicolas Pepe in recent weeks. While Leon Bailey and Kingsley Coman have also been mentioned as potential options.

If Sarr is really valued at 20 million pounds by his club, then signing him would be a no brainer for Arsenal. The 20 year old is comfortable on either wing and has also been used as the lone striker by Rennes. He has shown his potential in France and has the speed and the ability to take on defenders and beat them.

Arsenal have plenty of options in attack, but most of their players like to play in central positions. The Gunners lack a natural winger and signing Sarr would give their attack a whole new dimension. While Sarr is still a raw talent and still has plenty of things to improve on, signing for Arsenal would be a great move for him at this stage of his career.
