Barcelona player ratings vs Leganes: Messi and Co. shocked by the hosts

Defensive Midfielder- Sergio Busquets- 7/10

The midfielders did quite well in a match that was lost thanks to defensive blunders. Sergio Busquets stood out once again and dictated the play from the back, especially in the last 35 odd minutes when Barcelona needed to score in order to get back into the game. The 30-year-old completed 87% of his 115 attempted passes. While Pique attacked, Busquets also dropped to play as the central defender to cover any loose spots.

Right Midfielder- Ivan Rakitic- 7.5/10

Yet again there was no rest for the Croat who looked out of gas by the latter stages of the game. Nonetheless, he kept trying and trying until the final whistle. Pichu Cuellar denied Rakitic from near point-blank range a shot which could have been the goal to salvage at least a point for the visitors. He completed 93% of his passes and was successful in finding the target with 4 of his 5 attempted long balls.

Left Midfielder- Phillippe Coutinho- 8/10

The former Liverpool attacker was undoubtedly Barcelona’s best player. He opened the scoring for the Catalans with a classic Coutinho kind of goal. A shot from the edge of the box was not enough to secure any result but would have surely strengthened his case for a regular spot as a left midfielder. Leganes’ defence tried to keep Coutinho out for most of the match but the Brazilian nearly bypassed the back line again, only to see his shot get saved by Cuellar.
