Barcelona player ratings vs Leganes: Messi and Co. shocked by the hosts
Left Winger- Ousmane Dembele- 5.5/10
Ousmane Dembele was looking to add to his tally for the season which he has started strongly, against expectations. The French forward was amazingly shut out and pressed into tight spots by numerous Leganes defenders who ringed him as soon as he touched the ball. More than Dembele being slated for a bad display, it is the Leganes players who deserve the credit for keeping him out. The former Dortmund player was withdrawn with twenty minutes to go on the clock in favour of Malcom.
Striker- Munir El Haddadi- 6/10
The La Masia graduate was expected to replace Luis Suarez at some point due to the Uruguayan’s struggles since the start of this campaign. Munir’s turn finally came against Leganes but it was just about an average display. The 23-year-old was usually stuck offside and drove very feeble shots towards the goal, which were certain to not cause any damage. He was withdrawn at the half hour mark for Luis Suarez, who was not any good either.
Right Winger- Lionel Messi- 7/10
Lionel Messi provided the assist to Coutinho for Barcelona’s only goal on the evening. The Argentina international tried to dribble past numerous Leganes defenders but was annulled by the home side’s structured players. He dropped back to create a lot of chances but Barcelona lacked a finisher up top. It was a fairly average performance from Messi who has not looked up for things in the last 2 matches. If Barcelona are to finish chances which they get, it will come through Messi eventually.
