It’s probably best for Arsenal to sell Aaron Ramsey in January

Aaron Ramsey doesn’t look like he’s moving closer to signing a new deal with Arsenal, which is a real shame to see as Gunner, but excellent as a rival fan.

Aaron Ramsey is a great player, he really is. The Welshman has shown his quality multiple times over the years, and he continues to do so today. He was part of Arsenal’s British core, which now only sees himself and Carl Jenkinson remaining. Now it looks likely that Jenkinson will outlive everybody else. Anything is possible, folks.

I say this because Ramsey is running out of contract this season. He has until January to sign a new deal, otherwise he will be able to discuss contract talks with other clubs, which will see them land the star for free in the summer. Aaron Ramsey on a free, just let that sink in.

He’s one of the best midfielders in the league, in my opinion. His style is quite hard to come across, as he likes to penetrate the opposition’s box with probing runs. Emery is a clear advocate of his approach, but it doesn’t look like it will be enough.

Ramsey will have options elsewhere, for sure. Some of the top European clubs will be sniffing around his signature, trying to land one of the biggest coups in the window. According to Evening Standard, Italian giants Juventus and Milan are the two newest clubs to be interested in his signature.

There is still time, and I think Arsenal should put the most emphasis into tying him down to a new contract. It’s not going to be easy, but they have to give it a go. However, I do feel like we as fans need to prepare for the worst – something which is ingrained into most Arsenal fans’ heads.

Signing Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer certainly does help Arsenal in many ways. Although they don’t have Jack Wilshere to fall back on anymore, the wealth of options in midfield is a lot higher than it was last season.

If Emery can work wonders with Ramsey, which certainly does seem plausible, then who knows? Perhaps Ramsey can be swayed to working with the Spaniard for an additional period of time. Only time will tell what the outcome of this saga will be.

Do you think Arsenal will sell Aaron Ramsey in January, or will they manage to tie him down to a new deal somehow?
