Arsenal won the infamous Troy Deeney derby, but how did their players fare?

In truth, it was a very even affair. It was like watching Wimbledon, the ball went backwards and forwards that much. It was a tale of which side kept the better head, and much to the delight of the Gunners, it was Arsenal who prevailed.

That’s their 100% record extended to seven games in all competitions, something which never seemed possible from the opening two Premier League fixtures. Arsenal move up to fifth in the league, which is a standing higher than last season.

They were lucky with their breakthrough, as Alex Iwobi forced an own goal out of Craig Cathcart, but then Arsenal proved they deserved to win with a sublime move just minutes after. It was Iwobi who was involved yet again, as he played it out wide to Lacazette who played a simple assist towards the run of Mesut Ozil.

Anyway, you all know about that, let’s dive into some deeper analysis…

Petr Cech – 7/10

Cech was substituted right before half-time through a stretch to his hamstring. Before that though, he was impressive. He kept out a few chances from the Watford attack, and paved the way for Bernd Leno to make his Premier League debut.

It’s a shame to see him injured, but it shouldn’t last too long. Perhaps you can put it down to a change in style, but he is beginning to pick up some good form. He can go home with his head held high.
