The Manchester United players have stopped playing for Jose Mourinho and the board have no choice but to let him go before it gets even uglier for the club.

Far too often under Jose Mourinho, we have seen Manchester United show up to games and put on an abject display with an utter lack of urgency or purpose. This was the case once again as Manchester United were dismantled by West Ham. The club is now not only in a crisis, but its hard to imagine that manager Jose Mourinho has any ideas on how to get them out of it.

Mourinho’s players, led by Paul Pogba, seem to have stopped responding to him and nearly everyone can see that things will get uglier unless United change their manager soon.

Blaming Mourinho entirely for United’s woes is wrong, after all he has been massively let down by his players and his chairman. But he hasn’t helped himself with his blame everyone but himself mentality, especially when he has gotten his tactics horribly wrong on numerous occasions. And worst of all is the fact that he continues to contradict himself every step of the way. He will berate a player, drop him, then praise him a few weeks later, only to drop him again the very next week.

Mourinho is a serial winner, but he is just as good at downing his tools. He did it in his second spell at Chelsea after he did not get his transfer targets, and now we are seeing the same thing happen at United. The team lacks any sort of cohesion and the players seem to be happy putting in lackluster performances week in, week out. And the manager is getting the absolute worst out of them with his mentality and tactics.

Its hard to imagine that Mourinho will last the season, whether Ed Woodward will wield the ax now remains to be seen.

Next. Three reasons why Pogba should leave Manchester United. dark

The United chairman was very patient with both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, even though it was clear long before that a change was needed. His delay in making the decision cost United both times. Now United are back to square one and for the sake of the club, Woodward cannot afford to make the same mistake once again. United’s relationship with Mourinho has run its cause and the time is now to make a change.
