LB: Alex Sandro 7/10

This wasn’t Sandro’s best performance, but it also wasn’t a bad day for him. He was unable to keep Callejon from making an impact down his side, but Callejon’s assist also wasn’t really his fault. He did make a tackle and 5 clearances in this match, so he was able to make an impact defensively. It just wasn’t a particularly big impact.

CB: Giorgio Chiellini 7/10

Like Sandro,  this wasn’t Chiellini’s best performance. The Juve captain didn’t have much impact and wasn’t able to clean up Bonucci’s mess. The Napoli attack was allowed to find too much space in the middle in this match. He did make 2 interceptions and 5 clearances, so it’s not like he was invisible in this match. Juve needed him to pick this defense up though, and he wasn’t able to do it.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 5/10

This is probably the worst grade I will ever give a goal scorer. Although he did end up giving Juve some breathing room with his goal at the end of the match, this was a bad day for Bonucci. He made an awful turnover that led to Napoli’s goal, he looked shaky defensively for stretches of this match, and nearly got himself sent off. A different ref might have overreacted to Bonucci’s altercation with Allan and given him a red. Luckily for Bonucci he was only given a yellow for his unnecessary actions. Overall, this will be a day that only strengthens the arguments of Juve fans that didn’t want Bonucci back.

RB: Joao Cancelo 7.5/10

This was actually a pretty solid performance for Cancelo in his biggest match with Juventus. He 3 tackles and 2 interception and sent in 2 accurate crosses. He made his presence felt on both ends of the pitch, but his most important contribution was the way he handled Lorenzo Insigne in the one. Insigne lined up opposite him and wasn’t able to leave his mark on the match like he so often does. Insigne is one of the leading scorers in Serie A, but wasn’t even able to register a shot on target in this match. Cancelo kept Insigne from taking this match over and that’s about as important of an achievement as he could’ve had in this match.
