Juventus projected lineup for Champions League match vs Young Boys: Dybala and Mandzukic lead the attack
By John Vaccaro
RWB: Federico Bernardeschi
Federico Bernardeschi has been an incredible surprise for Juve this season. He was expected to be fighting with Juan Cuadrado to backup Douglas Costa. Instead, he has been absolutely phenomenal for Juve, has completely put Cuadrado in his rear-view mirror, and has been competing with Costa for starts. In this match he will start out playing more as a right midfielder, but he will shift to defensive duties once Juve can get themselves a lead. Another great performance out of him here could guarantee more starts for him in the Champions League.
LWB: Alex Sandro
Alex Sandro should be guaranteed to start in this match. He is Juve’s only available player that is comfortable playing on the left wing. He is also an incredibly reliable defender for Juve. With 3 center backs against a squad like Young Boys he should have plenty of opportunities to join the attack and show all of the facets of his game. This is a great opportunity to shine on both ends of the pitch.
GK: Wojciech Szczesny
Wojciech Szczesny was fantastic in Juve’s Champions League opener and will get the start again here. His penalty save to keep the clean sheet against Valencia will likely ensure that he starts every group stage match for Juve. While it’s impossible to replace somebody like Gianluigi Buffon, Szczesny has done a pretty good job of doing it at this point in the season. It might not be a very busy day for Szczesny, but if he’s needed Juve will certainly be able to deepend on him.
