Paulo Dybala finally looked like himself again last week against Bologna, but was unable to build on that performance against Napoli over the weekend. Now he will be given his first Champions League appearance of the season against Young Boys. He was left out of the starting lineup for the first Champions League match against Valencia, but will be given a chance here thanks to Juve’s current lack of attacking options. With Ronaldo suspended for this match and Douglas Costa injured Juve doesn’t have a player that can play the left wing, which means they’ll be playing two strikers up front. This is actually where Dybala is at his best, as a second striker playing off of a strong target. He needs a big performance to make sure he’s selected again for the next Champions League match. This situation just might line up perfectly for that performance.
ST: Mario Mandzukic
Mario Mandzukic has Juve’s most under appreciated player for Juve over the last few years. He works incredibly hard and has been willing to do whatever Juve has needed him to do. That attitude has paid off for him and Juve early in this season. He has contributed 4 goals and an assist this season and his brace against Napoli helped fire Juve to a 6 point lead at the top of the table.
Every match he starts you can expect to get the best out of Mandzukic and it shouldn’t be the least bit surprising if that earns him a goal against Young Boys.
